Hi there, I'm Kayla - the main photographer and owner of Fern
I am a PNW lifestyle + wedding photographer based out of Meridian/Boise Idaho + I travel to Washington State often to visit family + take photos. Since I have family in Western WA, I am also consider myself based in that area so clients in Washington state have little to no travel fees! I love traveling anywhere to capture your life + the moments you want to remember forever.
I finally took my hobby as an avid picture taker to a full time photography business + I pat myself on the back daily for taking the leap. My love for photography gave me a clear vision for what I wanted my life to look like - freedom to travel while expressing my artistic point of view. I have owned my business for 5 years + have been capturing moments for 10+ years.
I started offering Senior Portraits to my family members which led to family sessions + beyond. I now offer many session types including weddings, micro weddings, + elopements.
Beyond photography, I am a mom of 2 beautiful children (I take photos of them often) + live with my husband of 14 years. The PNW will always be my home + I LOVE spending time with family + friends - you'll often find us camping, paddle boarding, hiking, visiting hot sprints + anything adventurous. My other hobbies include painting, reading, and learning - I am ALWAYS taking courses to feed my soul + enjoyment of learning new things.
When I am not capturing a session or editing photos on the weekends, I am an Empowerment & Activation Life Coach during the week! I am also a Reiki Practitioner + Psychic Intuitive. To say that my abilities don't also help me to intuit your photography needs during a session or event would be a lie. I have a very "go with the flow" personality + am very passionate about my clients, no matter what job title I hold for the day. I love my life, my work, + the wonderful people I have the pleasure of connecting with.
Meet my Second Shooter & Videographer, Matt!
I am a second shooter + videographer for our photography team, working alongside my wife to capture the moments that matter most. While she focuses on photography, I bring movement + story to life through videography, making sure your wedding day or session is remembered in both timeless images + cinematic film.
I have always loved working with my hands + creating things, so it’s no surprise that videography became my creative outlet. Every wedding, elopement, or session is like a unique puzzle—piecing together moments, emotions, and movement to create a final product that tells your story beautifully.
Outside of photography, I’m a huge fan of board games, video games, Legos, and working on my car. I love a good challenge, whether it’s solving a complicated puzzle or figuring out the best way to frame a perfect shot. When I’m not behind the camera or editing, you’ll probably find me enjoying time with our two kids, camping, or diving into my latest project.
Working as a husband-and-wife team means we bring a natural flow to every shoot, making sure you feel comfortable + your vision comes to life. Whether I’m capturing the raw emotion of a wedding day or getting behind the lens for a creative session, I love being part of preserving memories that last a lifetime.
